Who Wants to be a Millionaire

In this game show, the lifeline "Ask the audience" again highlights the power of the crowd: they get the answer correct 91% of the time. The audience is made up of people from all walks of life. "Phone a friend" only gets the right answer 65% of the time. Remember, the contestant will hold these friends in high regard with reference to their general knowledge. Lets look at this example. The audience is made up of 100 people. 20 people know the answer is definitely B. The remainder aren't sure and so vote randomly between the four options. The results will be as follows:

20 40 20 20

Therefore the ignorant peoples votes cancel each other out, leaving the correct answer.
