Stances
1. Imaginary Lint PickingA displacement gesture that disapproves of the opinions and / or attitudes of others.
2. Hand on HipsThis makes the person look bigger - a show of assertiveness. Its known as the, “readiness” gesture or the “achiever” stance. The elbows point out like weapons. Men often do this with women to display a dominant attitude.
3. The Cowboy StanceThe thumbs are tucked in to the top of the pockets or belt. It shows the genital area - sexually aggressive attitude: he wants people to notice his crotch.
4. Sizing Up CompetitionBoth men are talking with their hands on their hips. This is not a relaxed situation – especially if they are directly facing each other with feet firmly planted on the floor with legs apart. Adolf Hitler used it, but his left arm would cross his body to try and cover up having only one testicle.
