Up until the age of 6 years old humans spend - for protection - alot of time hiding behind solid objects such as tables and chairs. Later on this becomes unacceptable: humans shield themselves by arm folding to safeguard vital organs.
Studies show that when a listener fold his arms he has more negative thoughts about the speech AND he is paying up to 38% less attention to what is being said. Teachers and lecturers should ensure that chairs have arm rests to prevent this. People who have crossed arms give off this vibe of not being very approachable.
Some people say that they feel comfortable when crossing their arms. However is it that they feel at home wallowing in having a defensive, negative and / or nervous attitude?
Mens arms rotate slightly inwards (they can throw more accurately because of this), women outward (more stable for carrying a baby). Womens tend to keep their arms open around men they like. They are folded over their breasts with aggressive or unattractive men.
