The Power of Representational Systems
Its important to realise that you can change from one RS to another overtime. Typically this happens when you change job or take up a
new hobby.
If you can identify the RS that someone uses then you can use this to your
advantage: by using words and phrases of their RS you will gain rapport
very quickly.
As a teacher, if you can find out a pupil's RS you can help them learn in
the most effective way e.g. an auditory person would make use of podcasts.
Successful salespeople use this strategy. Many clairvoyants use this
naturally - they don't realise that they are doing it!
There are many ways of finding out a persons RS:
- Internet questionnaires
- Asking someone to describe a holiday they have been on
- Looking at a person's eye movements (more on this later)
