Research from Germany has shown that young adults who spend a lot of time playing fast paced video games have improved visual skills and also a greater ability to concentrate and focus on complex environments. In addition they could keep track of multiple objects better than the average person. Playing games does improve computer literacy. However some research has shown that certain games can provoke anti social behaviour. A study from the University of Aachen got participants to play a game involving terrorism. The game players limbic area especially the amygdale and the anterior cingulated cortex were shut down - thereby reducing emotions. This has been seen in brain scans. However in general the results form research in this area has been mixed.
